Reason Case was accepted for investigation:
On 11/18/17, Hennepin County Child Protection accepted a report of alleged physical abuse of Aryel by a family friend or caregiver Afshin. Per reporter Aryel shared that his mother’ family friend “Afshin” hit him in the face with a pair of scissors. Per reporter Aryel originally shared that Afshin hit him one time with his hand on Aryel’s face and put his hand over Aryel’s face. Per reporter unknown if Afshin hit Aryel with an open or closed hand. It is unknown if Aryel had difficulty breathing. Per reporter when asked further information regarding his statement, Aryel started that he was hit on the left side of his face with a pair of scissors by Afshin., as option” got mad” at Aryel. He appeared healthy and active. He was calm and engaged during the meeting. He reported no concerns with school.
Aryel stated that he lives with his mother and Afshin, who lives with them. He stated that his father lives on his own. Aryel stated that he lives in a motel with his mother and Afshin. He stated that he sees his father once a week and outside of the house.
This worker asked about the allegation. He stated that a family friend “Afshin” is staying with them. He stated that Afshin watches him when his mother Ms. Nazly is at work. Aryel reported that he does not like Afshin because, “I hurt his feelings and I don’t listen to him. “ I make him angry.” Aryel stated that Afshin has hit him on his face right side not left side as mentioned on the allegation. Aryel stated that Afshin has hit me with scissors because, “I don’t listen to him.” Aryel stated that Afshin has slapped Aryel’s face before but reports no marks and no injuries.
