Ever since the 21st century reality television shows have become very popular among our society which has captivated our attention as it has influenced the way we live our life. As it’s unscripted and casted of ordinary people instead of casting well known celebrities as they’re lives are being documented by every move they make. According to sources many people believed that reality television shows seems to have a major impacted on every American’s lives as it’s inseparable to our society. However, symbolic interactionism describes the way people equate themselves and their actions by comparing it to others as it impacted their lives. As Mtv reality show, The Hills, portrays symbolic interactionism by allowing their viewers to accept that their real-life problems are ok as they’re seeing others doing it on the show. For example, Mtv reality show, The Hills features a 20-year-old, Lauren Conrad a college student attending the Academy of Arts in the University of San Francisco, California as she and her friends embark their first year of college together. Viewers quickly become so adapted and obsessed with Conrad’s life from her family issues, to relationship and from having conflicts with other cast members. Although, Conrad isn’t a celebrity and is just living her life as a college student and living out her dreams of becoming a fashion designer; many people feel connect throughout Conrad’s life challenges of dealing with fake friends, love triangles and betrays and heartaches. Although the structural functionalism among Mtv reality show, The Hills is the likelihood of striving to maintain the perfect look as for society tries to make us feel as if we aren’t good enough as they manifest reality televisions such as, The Hills by pressuring young teens in growing up too fast and devolving unhealthy
