In the first subtopic, Koralek explained that reading aloud to children is very important, from infancy and even through high school. Moreover she emphasized that reading sparks conversations between adults and infants; therefore, through talking the development of reading and writing is supported in children. Similarly, in our textbook further draws attention to conversations during read alouds. It states that,“Teacher’s conversations during read-alouds can enhance understanding when comments includes predictions or connects story happenings or prompts children's engagement in analytical thinking”( Pg 279). The second subtopic: Reading aloud with babies demonstrated how to chooses books babies like, for example nursery rhymes and stories with rhythm , bright colored, soft with pictures of animals, people and babies. This helps babies to link books and reading with warm and welcoming feelings while they hear sounds,words, and rhythm as well as take steps toward understanding that pictures equate with objects. Comparatively, in our textbook it also expresses that reading aloud to children is of the greatest benefit to them. Also, Koralek recommended reading books that dealt with daily routine like hand washing, getting dressed for school, and toileting so that they are able to learn self help skills. The fourth subtopic: Reading aloud with preschoolers examined how children of this age group can learn phonemic awareness through read-alouds. Children are able to listen to the sounds in word that they hear and are able to distinguish the similarities and differences in sounds. The fourth subtopic: Reading aloud with Kindergartners and primary school children explained how this age group is already motivated to read independently through read alouds. Koralek , suggests selecting chapter books with descriptive language, and plot twists. This will help them obtain information about a variety of topics, expose them to styles of writing and the structure of
