Raising the Roof has done everything right. They have used effective storytelling strategies. They are gaining awareness. They are educating the public on the issue of homelessness. They are demystifying stereotypes of homelessness. Unfortunately, like most not-for-profits those gains and strides they are making are not translating to increased funding or solutions to serious problems. The truth of the matter is - these types of organizations will never see widespread success because they are so reliant on government funding, government policy changes, systemic infrastructure changes, and public action. Raising the Roof’s biggest role in solving these complex social issues is in education and awareness, something they have been proven to succeed
