"Oh, you have to go so soon? I feel like it's been weeks since we last talked," said Karen as she clenched her hand around the phone. She suddenly stood up and paced around her old gingham sofa.
"It wasn't that long ago," said Rainey, exasperated. "I've just been feeling so tired and old lately, but I'll call you next week. I promise" Rainey bent over with a huff and picked up another dirty piece of laundry. Dan, her husband, never remembered to pick his clothes up off the bathroom floor.
