At the court where she works, there are correctional officers and police officers working with the defendants. They seem to treat everyone the same to her. The Assistant District Attorney and Judges do not change procedure with different races, and opportunities of people are only limited when they are guilty of a felony. This is fair to her because actions have consequences. The employees at Equinox are eminently Caucasian, but the clients in Albany City and Family Courts are varied. Although the clients vary in race, the workers need to be too, for the business to be fair. There are ways to decrease the amounts of African Americans being arrested. The places that they grow up in, supposedly make them think that crimes are okay. Education is important to keep people out of trouble, therefore decreasing crime rates, but college is expensive. If there was something to benefit anyone’s chances of going, it would help. Organizations should be available to assist anyone with their future. The opinion that only people who are involved with racism can help with it, is wrong. Everyone can do something; less for those who are being persecuted. If they try to stand up for themselves it would have a worse effect on their future endeavors. Raising awareness is necessary. Although racism may not be going on everywhere, that does not mean that it is not happening at all. The amounts are growing. 13% of the population are African Americans, yet they made up 21% of drug arrests in 1980 and 36% in 1992 (Race to Incarcerate). Some places have more security and are better, because they have more protection. In these places, it is less likely for someone to be hurt. In other circumstances, when someone is nearly alone, something is more likely to happen. When there are people to witness a crime happening, it does not happen as much. People need others for help, they cannot do it alone. They need the support. Getting help should not be expensive, and all rights should be equal. Everyone should get to know others, instead of judging a book by it’s cover. The whole human race is different, no more by race than personality. Give each other a
