What surprised me the most throughout the article was the topic of “Racial Disparities and Inequities in Health Care.” When reading this article, it amazed me how the quality health care you receive likely depends on your skin color. The unequal health care system is a serious problem for African Americans and other minorities. African American and minorities tend to receive lower health care and have worsen outcomes than whites even when they have the same insurance and income. “Black patients have more blood transfusions, higher complication rates, longer lengths of stay, and higher-in hospital deaths than white patients” (McNickles, 2014). It really upsets ne how racism can a role in a person’s health, I really think is truly unfair.
