Education is the basic road that leads to success for everybody. The level of success an individual attains depends on the quality of education the individual gets. Children learn fast when they are young. Therefore, the quality of education they get at a young age dictates their level of productivity when they are older. Compared to schools in White communities, schools in black communities are poorly funded. These schools lack the basic infrastructure as well as the basic teaching aid these students need to excel academically. Most students in these communities have never seen a standard library or science laboratories. These children are made to believe that the amenities they have now is what they could ever get. In addition, some schools do not have the required numbers of qualified teachers to provide the proper education Black students deserve, while schools in the white communities are well funded and have the necessary teaching aids to make the students successful. In the article U.S. Education: Still Separate and Unequal, the author says Black students have a higher percentage of school dropouts from high school than White students (Cook). This is because most Black students are less engaged in schools than White students. As the advanced in years, black students have more time to party and form gang groups because they spend less time on school work. Also these students never understand the importance of education in their younger years. Hence they felt they are wasting time going to school and drop out of high schools. Some female students have babies while in high school, repeating the same mistakes made by their parent. They became mothers at a young age and have no choice but to drop out of schools to fend for themselves and their babies.
