Ethnicity and Race in this paper are of great importance because they are important elements that have been used in society in the US and can either be used to help a particular group or can be used against them and will hurt them in terms of employment, integration and interaction into the various particular societies, and the degree to which they will be acceptance into this new society.

However, the usage of the term race has done considerable damage to some social groups and provided considerable benefits for others. As is the case with ethnicity, the boundaries in which many people identify with race, both within the group and externally, changes over time. Race is a social construct that is constantly changing; it is used as a way of either preventing power or taking power from one particular group of people usually based on physical characteristics .
It is worth remembering that both race and ethnicity can be highly subjective because of its fluidity and depending on the individual or particular society one finds themselves in and that the lines between the two concepts is frequently blurred.
