Actually, I got my business idea from KNK’s business model. I lived near the Seoul Train Station where lots of foreigners reside. I saw most of foreigners were really struggling to settle down in Korea because Korea is definitely not a foreigner-friendly country. In effect, the UCC has relaxed the rules relating to sales transactions by removing many of the technical requirements relating to contracts under the common law. Under the UCC, it is now far easier to form a binding sales contract.…

Like all immigrant groups, the Korean-American story comprises a unique experience and a rich history. Although the official first wave of immigration took place between the years of 1903 and 1905, the first trickling of Koreans into the Untied States of America took place some decades prior, specifically with the first Korean-United States treaty in 1882 that opened the doorway for a small handful of political diplomats to enter the country (National Association of Korean Americans). It was the beginning of the 20th century when the owners of Hawaiian sugar plantations recruited more than 7,000 male Korean immigrants to come work in the fields (Takaki 1993). However, in 1905, the Korean government cut off the labor supply after hearing about…

Before I moved to America with my parents at the age of twenty-three, I lived in China where people spoke the same language and shared a similar background. Immigrating to America was a very shocking news because I was well adjusted to my previous lifestyle and that everything in America was completely different. My education has prevented my abilities to further advance my skills and aspirations of becoming a leading web developer. I am proud to come to this one of the greatest city in the world, however, there was a time I was questioning myself…

The public perception of South Korea can vary from its popular song Gangnam style, the Kpop scene/idols, or maybe even its staple food kimchi. My heritage as a second generation Korean American has made me experience all sorts of comments and questions about my culture numerous times. Many of my Korean friends are also in the same position as me, or they were born in South Korea and moved to the U.S.A when they were children. Whenever someone in my group of Korean friends, talk about Korea we always ask my immigrant friends why they moved here. Especially if in that group, there is a native South Korean that just recently moved here or was born in Korea and immigrated here in his or her childhood.…

Life is made up of guidelines that one must live up to. Growing up as an undocumented immigrant in the U.S., I found out that the rules I had known in El Salvador were non-existent here in the US. My childhood was quite ordinary as well as atypical. My childhood could be defined by the two words, ‘carefree’ and ‘dance’. I had started dancing at the age of 4, and took dance very seriously, taking as many as three classes per week, and participating in various competitions. While my classmates were busy taking classes outside of school going to math, English, and science tutors, I spent majority of my outside-school time dancing and preparing for upcoming competitions. At school, my teachers frequently characterized me as confident, diligent, optimistic, and friendly, but has below-average math skills and often recommended that I get a math tutor.…
