As society becomes more progressive in accepting different people such as the LGBTQ, why not start accepting introverts as they are? An exceptional place to start when doing research about introverts is a book by Susan Cain called Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking, which has started raising awareness. Within the book, Cain writes about the “Extrovert Ideal”(Cain 23). The ideal is in reference to the rise of people desiring a more extroverted personality and essentially shunning an introverted personality. Also, in the book are chapters about experiments and studies that can be related to introversion. Society misunderstands introversion so much that research directly about introversion is rare. However, research such as Solomon Asch’s, a Polish psychologist, shows that group mentality can be used to convince people to believe falsities. With the little research done, society has little to no chance of understanding introversion.
