A concerning feature of this study is a lack of a true representation of one’s knowledge of firearms use and safety. The survey relies on self-reports, and while it may be some time before a study is conducted to access this phenomenon in regards to actual competency, such as having participants operate a firearm to evaluate their actual ability.
The current study is utilizing a Qualtrics survey to recruit WSU students to access this phenomenon as it relates to firearms use and safety.
