On the other hand if an aging person experiences a better delivery of care from the hospital staff they felt their life is worth continuing and therefore the Quality of life is far better. This was better seen in the pilot study of 500 patients who were admitted to the hospital , they were asked about the perception of quality of life, the response was balanced between the care they received and the overall experiences while hospitalized. All this corresponded greatly that most of our aging or elderly population feel that as long as they are treated with dignity and have patient people care for them the Quality of life does not diminish.(Hartgerink, Cramm, Bakkarm, Mackenbach, Nieboer, 2015). The need for our elderly to feel appreciated and needed is an experience that all want to feel, with this in mind anyone can perpetuate a great quality of life even for those who are dying. In all the studies there was one common thread that was Quality of life is the perception of the individual you may be questioning, for some health, happiness, family, and security is what “Quality of life” is about, while other feel that their own independence and health is “Quality of Life”. However an individual may look at “Quality of life” not losing one own self looking for or finding “ Quality of life” is important. Once an elderly person loses their autonomy and independence, most feel they are useless and slip quietly away.
In conclusion of this paper I would have to say that love, support and nurture all affect our elderly generation, once they don’t feel needed or wanted their perception of Quality of life is not worth living.
