Choice of Method
I have chosen to conduct qualitative explanatory case study for this research study. Rubin and Rubin (2005) stated that qualitative research method helps to describe a phenomenon in a certain context. Explanatory case study is used as I am seeking an answer a question that sought to explain the presumed causal links in the real-life context that I am facing. Mainly this qualitative case study to explain what are teacher’s perspectives on the use of iPad as their teaching tool in a classroom. This could not be done in a quantitative survey or experimental strategies.
In order to concretize and understand teacher’s use of iPad as a tool classroom, the methods used were interview. However I reflected …show more content…
This is done intentionally as they are the English teachers for the Nursery, K1 & K2 children. These groups of teachers spend most of the hours with the children interacting with them during routine and activities in class or at outdoor. The participants have been working in the organization between 2 – 4 years. The participants are all certified with Diploma in Early Childhood Education. A pre survey could be done to understand the knowledge and skill that the teachers has in technology particularly on iPad as teaching tool. The major difference that impacts this study is the number of service among the teachers between the 2 centres and their professional …show more content…
I have also decided to choose to frame my discussion through a thematic analysis approach. From pre survey questions, data will help researchers to have an understanding of their knowledge and skill on iPad. Through the focus group, researcher would be able to determine and interview more in-depth of teachers sharing base on the data collected from the online pre survey. The focus group would allow researcher to clear uncertainty and to ensure that the data analyses are aligned to their answer done during their pre survey. Data will be analysed according to emerging themes across all sources gathered. An interpretive approach will then be employed to analyse, and provide insight on how into how participants made sense of their experiences (Mason,
