This approach was used in order to have an actual conversation with each person and take note of how each person reacted to each question at hand. One takeaway from this research was that every single person found that the COO is not important when purchasing something that is immaterial and not overly expensive. When asked about what they think about the COO when buying something more valuable, five out of the ten people thought that the COO was irrelevant, not very important, and not important at all. One person out of those five individuals stated that the COO is certainly taken into account in that situation, but it certainly is not overly important when making a decision. Three people stated that they believe the COO is somewhat important or has little importance and two people stated that it is extremely important, one of which saying that she would only buy certain valuable products from specific countries. These results represent two separate conclusions. The first conclusion is that COO is not important enough that a customer will not buy an immaterial product based on where it originated from. The most mentioned companies were both Mercedes and BMW, both of which got five mentions out of the ten people. Both of these companies are German based companies, which agrees with the stereotype of European cars being better quality cars. When breaking up all of the car brands based on COO, there were two mentions of the U.S. based companies of Ford and Cadillac. The total of mentions for Japanese based companies were nine mentions which included Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Mazda, Nissan and the most mentioned Japanese company Lexus. The remaining nineteen mentioned companies are all made up of European based companies with Germany making up a majority of the mentions. There were seventeen total mentions of German based companies and only two mentions of the Italian based companies Ferrari and Lamborghini which made up the remaining number of mentions of European based companies. The significance of where this question was placed on the sentence completion list also holds some importance. This question was asked first, which means that before the respondents said anything about COO, these companies were the first thing they thought of.
