The scarlet letter that is imprinted on Hester develops throughout the story by being judge as a symbol of adultery to being the symbol of aid.Hester view of the scarlet letter also changes over time and she acquires the knowledge of her own sorrow and and humanity from others.Furthermore,in the beginning of the novel,Hester struggles to with the scarlet letter symbol as well as people struggled with their moral choices .

The Puritans treated Hester as if she were the devil,the made her seem like a rejection towards God.In the Purtians interpretation,transgressing towards God is a pitiful thing to do.
