IT IS WHAT IT IS College is not meant for everyone in my opinion. Everyone has their own path in life and although education is very important, you do not always need a university to help you get where you want to be. To argue that every American should go to college is a brave statement. If every American graduated from college what would that mean exactly?…

What three things initially motivated you to start college? As I pondered on this question for several weeks, my initial motivations for starting college remain unchanged. Like many who begin their journeys towards higher education my family, my children, and my future goals are what initially motivated me to begin my own journey. As a young child I knew I was destined for great things, however, like so many I temporarily lost my way to my destination. Thankfully, after many years of my family constantly pushing me to achieve my goals I gave in to temptation.…

When I was growing up college to me was just a place that smart people with money would go to get a noble job and earn more money. I only heard about it never really knew the extravagant opportunities it provided. College was not something that I was told to strive for the reason being that everyone in my family is going or got by life adequate without it. They had responsibilities at a young age and never really got to finish school or explore any intellectual concepts. Not going to college is a norm thing in my family.…
What Motivated Me to Start College? As I grew up, my mom always told me that education is the key to unlock a brighter future. She also expressed to me in many ways that once I receive my education no one could ever take it away from me. My career job in the near future was another reason that motivated me because most jobs today especially in the medical field require you to have a degree or certification in a specific area.…
P1-Anna When asked, what obstacles do you think would hinder you from persisting in obtaining your degree? Participant one, Anna, expressed, “I was on a tight schedule trying to get my grandkids off to school and then run to school myself. In the evenings, I had to get home to prepare their meals, make sure my grandchildren were doing their homework, and then do my homework”. What does it mean to you to persist in your education in spite of the obstacle.…
Being involved with my community is very imperative because it allows me to give back to the city that has raised me for the past eighteen years and help that same city prosper for future generations. Helping others is/has always been/will always be one of the most enjoyable things I could do if awarded with a degree. If granted with a degree, no matter what the certificate may be for or of, there will always be a way to help and impact another person’s life. There is no level of degree that will put me above others in the sense of assistance or involvement with the community, but having a degree does allow me to expand the range of help I can lend and insight I can teach for those who may be lost and confused. Personally, lending a helping hand is he most delightful and caring things someone can do for someone else because it does not just benefit them, but can…
My Motivation: What motivates me the most to pursue a college degree is that I will be the first person in my family to receive one. My grandmother is the backbone behind this motivation because she was always making sure that academics came first in my life. There was rarely a day that I would come home and she would not ask me questions about my homework, asking what I learned in school, or even looked over my homework. As I got older, she made sure I was a part of a college prep program called AVID from 6th-12th grade and that definitely made a difference for me. It helped me understand the importance of continuing your education and how beneficial it can be to succeeding in life.…

Incentives are effects for performing actions. There are positive and negative incentives, positive are ones that increase benefit and reduce cost and negative are vice versa (Sexton, 2015). My largest incentives for continuing my education are really quite simple; my sons. I want my sons to grow up with a healthy respect and yearning for education, the only way I saw for these to things to occur was by showing them my dedication to education by continuing it.…
I figured this was the best scenario for me. But in reality what really pushed me to go back to college was my younger sister. This past May she got her Associate 's in Business & Marketing. Even though I 'm the oldest, she 's someone I look up to when it comes education. With her going to college and graduating, it motivated me.…
Even though there has been a lot of confusion between people about the purposes of higher education. Frequently, people think that higher education is meant to prepare professionals for the next generation and they are not mistaken; however, the most oblivious thing to say is that higher education allows people to secure well paying jobs. Although I believe that there is more to life like being educated properly.
