Taking the subjects I have has given me experiences and valuable skills that would be advantageous in pursuing a chemistry based degree. For example, coming into contact with different spectroscopic techniques such as mass spectrometry, which is used in pharmaceutical industries, has allowed me understand how and why these techniques operate and be analytical. An aspect of my A level course I have particularly enjoyed is the synthesis of organic molecules and polymerisation. The medical uses of polymerisation is one of the most interesting parts of Chemistry, especially how the subtle differences in monomers can completely change the properties and uses of a polymer. My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

There are ways to assess the priority population such as using precede/proceed model, health belief model, and other theories to help predict if the plan will be successful (1.1.3). Moreover, there are also several ways to data collect and examine the information about the community that will have to establish during the planning process (1.1.4).…

I will be taking general chemistry and biology—both are the foundation of their field. When I master the material taught in those classes, I will be better prepared for my future courses in chemistry and biology. Since I was in elementary school, my father emphasized the importance of understanding the material rather than just knowing and getting the correct answer. I followed his advice, but I did not actually see the difference between knowing and understanding until spring 2014.…

I am a chemistry major graduating from the College of Charleston in May. My undergraduate education has trained me to operate and interpret various chemical analysis instruments (UV-Vis spectrometer, gas chromatography, NMR, FTIR) effectively. Subsequently, the subjects I studied (calculus 1-3, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, instrumental chemistry) makes me conversant in the molecular interactions that are fundamental to brewing science. Combining my training for chemistry with my affinity for home-brewing, I interned at Holy City Brewing in Charleston and LauderAle Brewing in Florida. Both were excellent introductions to the brewing industry where I learned all about brewing, cellaring,…
