Therefore, I figured I ought to make a career choice that is enjoyable. I discovered many people hate their job when it is not compatible with their personality. Therefore, I decided to take an aptitude test to see which job fits my personality. One of the traits I learned was that I have a superior number memory than 95% of people. With my strong math skills and other personality traits, the test directed me to explore a career in the field of engineering or as an analyst. With this information in mind, when I started looking at classes for my senior year of high school, I wanted to take a class that I enjoyed but also helped me learn and challenge my abilities. Unlike many of my fellow classmates, I did not desire to simply choose the classes that would deliver me the easiest route to graduation. Instead, I took Tech Systems and all the Advanced Placement math classes I could, in order to guide me to excel in an area I am good at. At first, my Tech Systems class was unsatisfying because my teacher presented a competitive scale: the better the project, the better the grade. I had never experienced this method of grading and learning before and did not think it was fair. However, I grew to like the competitive nature because it strengthened my abilities. It also encouraged me to work harder and do my best. It was this crucial point, in striving to meet my goal, that I decided I needed to be an engineer. Not just any engineer, but an engineer that is innovating enough to help others. I may just be one of hundreds of applicants for the Watson Brown Scholarship but I aspire to be the one that is going to stand out from the crowd in college and if given the opportunity I’m confident I will be. I’m confident because I know when I set my mine to a goal I do not back down. I do not give up in fear of failing. Instead, I step forward and try harder because I know I am up for the
