Purpose, Textual Analysis, And Thesis Statement

Module 1 had four learning objectives, understanding the rhetorical situation, considering relationships among audience, text, and purpose, Textual analysis, and developing thesis statements. By reading the assigned text, I found out how to read and analyze texts rhetorically, define rhetorical situation, connect exigence to purpose, and found effective strategies for analyzing rhetorical texts. To read text and analyze it correctly you have to first gather information. You should know whose speaking, the occasion, the audience, purpose, subject, and tone. Next you need to examine the appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos. Ethos is the writer’s credibility. Logos uses reason to make an argument. Pathos seeks to bring out emotion from the audience. Furthermore, one needs to find the elements in the text such as imagery, tone syntax, and diction. After that, one needs to form and analysis. To rhetorically analyze one needs to identify their own purpose. Let the reader know that their paper is a rhetorical analysis. Next step, one should state the text being …show more content…
I will be able to find rhetorical texts easier with the strategies I’ve learned and will also be able to analyze it properly. Furthermore, I will be able to use different techniques to brainstorm parts of my essay and will be able to make a solid thesis statement. Touching on the essay portion of what I learned, I will continue to try and blend my paragraphs better, specifically address rhetorical context, state the thesis clearly, and work on bettering my conclusion so there is no repetition. Looking at my feedback on the past assignments help me greatly. I continue to look at old outlines to reassure that I understand what I need to work on. After finishing an essay, I look at a graded outline and compare my paper to see if I hit the key components. Each paper I hope I get better and better at fixing my mistakes made

    Prior to implementing the rhetorical analysis style into my writing, I did not have a plan when it came to reading and understanding text. My only strategy of the reading process was to read actively and with direct attention on the literature. Although, after learning through multiple links and lessons on reading with a plan, I was able to create a system of reading strategies that worked for me personally.
