Purpose Of A Group Project Analysis

Improved Essays
My past experiences working in groups through Liberty University and through other schools has been positive to a certain extent, but group projects always add a certain amount of stress. There are a few groups that have been fantastic and a few groups which have had lagging group members which make it difficult. I would say that my personality type is extremely laid back, but I also like for things to get done because, at this level, good grades are essential.
A few annoyances that I have discovered while working in groups is when individuals place blame on others specifically. The purpose of a group project is to work in a fluid motion and work together. My reactions under stress are mild, but I would rather not be put into a situation where

Positive attitudes are key for a successful project. On the other hand, the behaviors that could threaten the project are negative behaviors and when individuals feel that one person is doing all the work. This can lead team members to feel resentful. I would appreciate if others described the quality and quantity of my work as that which had a great deal of thought and work put into it. I tend to do the best I can when submitting work so I hope that can shine through to my other group members. Often, my method of conflict resolution is to go directly to the person and figure out how the situation can be …show more content…
I am currently pregnant and the multitude of doctor visits and hospital stays may require flexibility. Flexibility typically means to me that I will submit my portion of the work maybe later than the date the group has decided. It does also mean understanding and patience because every individual has things in their life which will require their attention. I do not believe that flexibility means that someone needs to help all the time, but I do believe that if someone is having a difficult time, the group should not hold that against them. I think that the team member going out of town should give the group adequate notice so we can plan accordingly.
Performance Expectations
I feel that the attempt at MBA-level writing should be presented to the group. However, this does not mean that rough drafts cannot be submitted because peer editing is always helpful in a group setting. I find a draft mode to be acceptable, but only if the group member is willing to fix it when necessary. I would always expect/want an A on the project and I am willing to put in the top effort to achieve this. I want to be a person in the group that has successfully aided us in achieving the A.

What is your team’s approach to completing the project? This project is difficult for anyone to complete in an online class setting such as this. However, this is not because of any task that is assigned for this project, but because this assignment forces us to learn to effectively communicate with each other to complete a common goal. We began communicating early this week regarding what we need to accomplish in order to complete this project, and we have come to a conclusion.…

In high school, we were constantly being told that we could not work in groups because we would get too loud. In university group work was encouraged so that our professors wouldn't have to do as much marking. During my observations at my CSL there was a lot of group work. Comparing when the students were working on group work to their individual work, the results were polar opposites. The tasks for students was to write down what they knew about 5 sided figures.…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

War is not easy on anyone; it causes too many psychological and physical problems. Reading this article about the nurse’s experiences in the Vietnam War did change my perspective of nursing. How they overcame the many challenges that they had to face, still amaze me.…

The use of visual images is an advocacy strategy used in the blog.24 An example of a visual image used in the blog is a generalised image of a man giving emotional support to another man juxtaposed with bold text ‘Helping those behind’ and ‘your family expert’. This emphasises on the important role of friends and family in preventing male suicide and motivates readers to actively think about their role in suicide prevention. The use of narratives is another advocacy strategy used in the blog24. There is power in group work and in the past I did not think this was true. In the past, I hated doing group work because my grade depended on how well my group members performed. The majority of the work was done by me and I honestly hated group work for that sole reason. I now understand what working as a team really means and teamwork has some profound outcomes if everything goes right. I now look forward to meeting my next group even though I do not know who they are as of this…

Groupthink is a term made popular by a social psychologist, named Irving Janis, in 1972. Groupthink occurs when a group of people decides based on what the other group members decide instead of each member deciding true to their own opinions or beliefs. The reason that groupthink occurs is that the members of the group feel pressure to agree or to avoid conflict within the group. Groups affected by groupthink often make poor decisions and do not explore the many other alternatives that may be available. They may also act irrational and harsh to other groups in their surroundings.…

The concepts delivered throughout the management problem-solving course have provided me with valuable simulated real-life experiences which can be applied in my everyday work life as a HR Administrator with aspirations of progressing my career. The course delivery was such that as a student, I was able to use my existing knowledge and skills, in addition to that of my peers, to analyse and explore complex organisational problems. This course has challenged the way I think and deepened my understanding of the problem-solving process, which has enabled me to perceive issues from new perspectives, I once would not have considered. Additionally, it has also allowed me to make explicit and authentic connections between the course content and my…

Reflection Paper II Throughout my college experience here in the Carroll School of Management, group work and the ability to work well with others has been emphasized greatly. This makes sense, because in a professional environment, the ability to communicate, listen and contribute within a group leads to success and the achievement of goals. However, none have gone on as long as this project, making it a more realistic example of working on a team. Junior year of college is definitely a crazy time, as we are forced to balance heavy workloads with extracurriculars and recruiting.…

In fact, my group members were very helpful and whenever one of us had trouble with something we would all participate in solving her problem or giving her helpful tips to solve it. By helping, supporting and motivating each other it made the project easier to solve and it helped us in achieving our work in the most effective time and ways. Here are some points I loved about the experience, firstly being a part of a group helped in developing my skills and we were able to achieve more work than in working individually. Secondly, we had more time to manage and plan. Thirdly I developed more communicating skills and team commitment and also I had more exchange of information between myself and our group members.…
