The following activity comes from chapter six of the book Puntos de Partida whose authors are Becher Dorwick and Isabelli Pérez-Gironés. Chapter six is about the seasons and the weather; one of the topic lessons from the chapter is “Ser and Estar.” The following activity is being designed to help student to learn the use of ser and estar in an appropriate context. Puntos de Partida has being designed for students who are in their first years of learning a new language in this case Spanish; chapter six from this book has being designed for students who are taking SPAN 1412. Activity “A” main focus is to help the learner develop their conversational skills. With that in mind, the instructions of the activity are to answer the following questions in order to provide information related to the bedroom of the two students. It seems that the activity has being created for students to work in pairs. The first student is going to ask the questions and the second student is going to answer the questions. One of the things that I think I would add to create an interactive environment to the learners is to give to the student one magazine and look for a picture. After the student finds the appropriate and most interesting picture, they are going to create a couple of questions using ser and estar. After the student finishes with the question, the student is going to interact with the rest of the class, and ask the questions to different students. To make sure they are doing the assignment appropriately, each student that provides an answer is going put their name on one side of the question. By this I would create an interesting and interactive environment to the classroom, at the same time, the questions and the answer would not be
