Recently, Publix has expanded across the United States, having 1,169 store locations in seven different states. However, they planned on expanding farther west, but this year decided to change the goals for Publix. The CEO Todd Jones decided they want to stop expanding and focus more on the Publix stores in Florida. He wanted to go back to their roots and to continue the huge success they have seen in Florida. A main reason why Publix does not want to let itself get too big is because once they become even larger they could be forced to make their stocks open to the public.
