Public vs Private
Complete silence, only the sound of biting nails, tapping pencils, and shivering legs fills the room. The moment is now, everything that you have worked for is important now! This is the act test, a test that decides your future. How has your education prepared you? Growing up in a private middle school, and now attending a public high school I have open eyes of on the subject public school system vs. the private school system controversy. The public school system promotes equality, is more cost effective, and has equal education opportunities.

What urged me to research about the public school vs. private school converse is that my next-door neighbor, Mal, who was 6 at the time was applying to the private school that I attended since I was 4. She had met all financial criteria, was hard working, and an athlete. After having hope that she was going to soon be attending my private middle school, her hopes plummeted, she was denied. Was it because she was from the Native American background? After researching I found that “Because private schools define the identity of their communities, they often pick and choose between candidates based not only on their scholastic achievement but also their ethnicity and religious background” (Private). I still remember the day that she came to me crying, confused about this unfortunate situation. This is generally because Private schools have more money to allow different ways, opportunities, and techniques to learn. “…Small class sizes, individualized attention, values, manners, and discipline are the most important factors describing differences between public and private schools” (Why private). These are all benefits of the private school system, but not the private school system alone, in fact many public schools provide similar benefits. It is also proven that private schools are growing increasingly every year, “While many private schools provide small classes with low student-to-teacher ratios, there is no guarantee that such schools will keep their class size below a certain level” (Private). This is a great benefit of the private school system now, but in a matter of time this can change from a current statistic to something of the
