Psychological Theories Of Carl Jung's Tarot Cards

Improved Essays
I’ve never been good at asking for advice, but often find I have no idea what I’m doing. So, I just sit down and try to figure it out for myself. Sometimes I just end up thinking way too much.
Finishes laying last card.
I’ve always been interested in things that other people think are weird. Like these, Tarot Cards are one of the most interesting things I’ve ever bought. Now I don’t necessarily believe in reading the future or anything like that. But, tarot cards really just work off of psychology. There’s this psychological theory by Carl Jung about archetypes. Basically it says that there is this thing called the collective unconscious, knowledge that is inherent in every living person. These archetypes represent ideas we all have and evoke

This card represents a person who thinks logically, sometimes too logically. They’re independent, and smart, but not very intuitive. This person could probably afford to follow their emotions a little more. They think too much. They overanalyze things and that might bring them down. They need to learn to listen to their gut a little more, instead of just their head.
Flips over second card – Death.
This card is what crosses you, meaning the problems you’re facing currently.
Shows the Audience the death card.
Every time this card comes up it’s a little nerve wracking. But really all that it means is change. The shift from one phase of life to another. This is probably something big, maybe you got married, or had a kid. Or maybe you moved away from home, maybe you just started college. That’s a pretty significant change, something like that might mess with your head a little, right?
Flips over third card – the Six of Swords.
This is the crowning card, representing the ideal situation.
Shows the Six of Swords
The Six of Swords. It’s a little weird that this card is showing up as the crowning card. It means obstacles and challenges ahead. Why would that be ideal? Most people want things to go as easily as they can. So who would want what’s ahead of them to be challenging? But, pushing yourself can be a good thing right? It can really show you who you are, know what I

Christina DeFiori The chapter Psychics and Scientists begins with a very thoughtful example to explain precognition. We have all had an instance when we thought about a person and then the phone buzzes and it magically appears to be that person. Of course this coincidence seems like a big deal and might even make people say the line, “I must be psychic.” What this chapter points out is a very important argument: You might have been right that one time, but what about the hundreds of times you were incorrect? If the set of events, say tossing a coin 100 versus 5 times, is larger, then coincidences are in fact very likely to occur and are not remarkable.…

A messy bedroom, Arctic Monkeys as background music, and an adolescent begrudgingly writing an essay for their twelfth grade English class is the current scene. This is the perspective of a senior; an absolutely glamorous time in life. It's an alarming thought that my high school career has brought me to this point as I search my mind for the correct words to advise you and my fingers tap away at my small keyboard. I'm supposed to give advice and guidance to the future graduates of our beloved Quincy High School, but there's little I can give that can be completely relatable to all. For example, I was raised by a single father, am a part-time cashier, and can barely figure out how the Pythagorean theorem will actually affect my adult life.…

In the book 50 Great Myths of Popular Psychology, myth 24 is that “Happiness is Determined Mostly by our External Circumstances”(Lilienfeld, Lynn, Ruscio,& Beyerstein 122). The myth is that to be happy we need to have lots of money, a gorgeous house, a great job, and plenty of pleasurable events in our lives(Lilienfeld, Lynn, Ruscio,& Beyerstein 123). This myth came to belief mainly by word of mouth. Due to the fact that from birth a child is lead to believe by society's standards that if you have a well paying job and a good family everything will be perfect and you will achieve happiness. This relates to word of mouth because from generation to generation children and young adults are told that our happiness depends on our external circumstances (Hale).…

There has been an ongoing debate among academics questioning whether psychoanalysis is a science or pseudoscience. This essay examines psychoanalysis as a science because it influences psychology literature. Secondly, the essay discusses objectives that illustrate that psychoanalysis is a science such as (1) therapeutic efficacy (psychotherapy), (2) observations which are used mostly in case studies and (3) interpretation. Furthermore, it explains how scholars oppose that psychoanalysis is not a science. Psychoanalysis initiated by Sigmund Fred (1856) can be defined as a treatment that utilises techniques in the form examining an individual’s emotion using the unconscious mind, as well as an understanding of an individual’s mental being…
