Psychiatric Unit Acuity Assessment

Prior to the implementation of the pilot study all staff will be provided with a questionnaire with five questions using the Likert scale. This will assess the current level of nurse satisfaction. Additionally, data will be gathered on falls, use of restraints, and incidence of violence for the last year on the inpatient psychiatric unit. This will provide a baseline of patient outcomes. All registered nurses on the unit will be educated and instructed on how to use the psychiatric unit acuity assessment tool. Directions on how to the use the assessment tool will be given during an in-service. Registered Nurses (RNs) will be provided with written instructions as well for a reference if needed and the name and contact information of the project
