Description and identification Family: The family Amphiumidae consists of three separate species of “eel” like animals separated by the number of toes that are present on the animal. These animals are nocturnal, as well as almost completely aquatic. The two pairs of limbs that these animals posses are small in proportion to the body, and are not incredibly useful. This family of animals has a dark brown or black dorsum with either a dark gray, light gray, or brown/black ventor. Amphiumidaes normally have a long body that can measure up to 30+ inches.…

Snails dominated the dry biomass of free-living organisms with a percentage of 60% across streams. In addition, Alabama streams have more snails than any place in North America. However, for a long time, there is being an issue on determining the variables that lead them to their diversity, such as shell-form variation, morphological characters, taxonomic keys unavailable, and species relationships. Despite all the species found, it is really hard to recognize each one of them due to their similarities. In order to solve that problem, she developed a pictographic catalog of morphotypes so that they can identify their variation.…

Native species are species that have evolved to in a particular region over a long period of time, and have adapted to live in that region’s climate and habitat. These species live in this region with all the other species to form an ecosystem. Non native species on the other hand, are species that are introduced to an area they're not used to by humans, either by accident, or intentionally (getthegreen). Invasive species are a type of non native species, that are very likely to cause harm to the ecosystem (NOAA). They destroy the habitat of other species, and eventually kill plants, and/or other species.…

Characteristics of S. epidermidis from Cheng, can be determined by its physical traits, such as, if it produces any kind slime that can allow it to stick on to biomaterials. Reproduction is a vital step in the sustainability of all living things, and the consequences of unsuccessful reproduction can be catastrophic for a species. Therefore, it is not surprising that multiple strategies have evolved over time in order to ensure offspring will be viable and competitive members of a population. One of the basic features of reproductive success is providing offspring an environment with the necessary features for effective development, such as nutrients and water, temperature control and protection from predators. Oviparity and viviparity are two methods that provide developing embryos with the environment they require to successfully develop. Oviparity can be defined as a reproductive mode where a portion of embryonic…
