Lots of people get married and of all those people 53.25% of arranged marriages. People who also have arranged marriages have a divorce rate of 6.3% (Arranged). This show that there are a lot of arranged marriages that are happen, which mean that they has to be something good about them. Arranged marriages would happen all the time long ago and they still do because for lots of people it is part of their culture and it is really helpful. I will be taking about the pro of arranged marriage, than I will be going over how arranged marriage can hurt a family.

Nnaemeka comes from the tribe Ibos, were his father will pick his bride that is also from Ibos tribe. Nnaemeka fall in love with a girl that is not Ibos and know that his father will not be happy. “They are most unhappy if the engagement is not arranged by them. In our case it’s worse-you are not even Ibo.” (Achebe 189). He father is will be part or come to his son wedding because he is marriage someone different than who he want him to. He father did not like that he went to go find himself a wife when he was finding him one (Achebe 190). His father would not see him and only wrote a letter to him if he was telling him that he could not come visit (Achebe 192). His father finally changed his heart when he learns that he had two grandchildren that want to meet him (Achebe 193). “Okeke was trying hard not to of his two grandsons.
