Foremost, North Koreans believe that Americans are the root to all evil. North Korea is a very small country and highly corrupted at that. In one of the games is the teachers would also make a picture representing America and then signal for the children to race toward the picture with a sharp object and scream at the top of their lungs (Kim 12). This type of behavior shows that the teachers are even trained on how to brainwash the children in their daily lives. It also shows how they brainwashed the teachers before that and even possibly the teachers’ parents before that. Previously stated, the brainwashing is based off of the hate towards Americans and Japanese people generated by the North Korean government. As the reader can see, if the North Korean government did not enforce the hate towards these people the brainwashing would fail because it would have no foundation.
