Pros And Cons Of Animal Testing

Animal testing is any kind of scientific test in which live animals of sorts are forced to undergo something that is likely to cause them pain, suffering, distress or lasting harm. This has been a very controversial thing that people everywhere are protesting about.
There are two main uses of animal testing: medical and federal approval of products. Other uses include: advancing scientific study, models to study disease, develop and test different forms of treatment, and to protect the safety of animals, humans, and the environment. As an example, rabbits suffer from hardening of the arteries or atherosclerosis. They also share diseases such as emphysema, and different birth defects in common. Common domestic animals such as dogs suffer from cancer, eye disorders such as cataracts, diabetes, and bleeding disorders such as hemophilia. The fact that they share these things in common with humans make them automatic candidates for the research of cures. With these such models scientists learn how certain diseases affect the body, how the immune system responds, and in who will be more or less affected. A majority of the knowledge of the human body’s anatomy and functions can somehow be traced to findings from scientific animal research. Comparing different species and studying the differences and similarities between them is just one of the ways scientists use animals as models to gain more of a go-to for insights. The simplest of animals, such as mice, can be used to study the most advanced biological systems in the body, such as nervous or digestive systems; which also compare similarly to an animal’s nervous or digestive system. In example, there have been many discoveries pertaining to the functions of neurons from studying a giant squid’s axon.
