Just a hundred years after we started our country, we started to implement the first real immigration laws, which slowly escalated into the pinnacle which it is today. At the start, the only way you could be restricted as an immigrant was if the government convicted you of a serious crime. The first rules came out at the end of the 1800’s, and more and more were continually added during the 1900’s. including Mexican discrimination and deportation from the government, even though they have essentially been and still are the backbone of US agriculture. So that leaves us at where we are today, at a crosspaths: Are we ready to move forward as a nation to ease the harsh restrictions on helpful immigrants, or will we stick to our old, selfish ways with closed borders and a boon to US agriculture and
