“Explore the characters of the witches. Are they “real” or not (can they truly see the future or are they just meddling fortune tellers)? How might this question influence the reading of the play?”

MACBETH PAPER The witches in the Macbeth story to me are real, they show exactly what happens throughout Macbeths reign of terror and his climb to the Thrown. They foresaw what he was going to do to become King (Lines 48-79). Their prophecies came true, all of them did. From Macbeth becoming King by murdering King Duncan, to the fall of Macbeth. The first prophesy consisted of Macbeth becoming king. When Macbeth and Banquo went to the witches, they called him “Thane of Glamis” “Thane of Cawdor” and the Third witch said “All hail Macbeth, that shalt be king hereafter” (Lines 48-50).

Macbeth decides to let Macduff live since he cant be killed by man born from a woman, so he doesn’t fear him. (Act 4 Scene 1 Lines 83-88). Macbeth ends up sending murderers to kill Macduff because he is a “traitor”. His son whos loyal to his father ends up getting killed instead which sparks fire into Macduff (Act 4 Scene 2 Lines 78-84). In Act 5 Scene 4 the rebels are instructed to cut of branches in the Birnham Forrest to camoflauge themselves. After getting through the walls the rebels secure Macbeths troops, who decide they are going to fight against their leader. Macduff finally finds Macbeth (Act 5 Scene 8 Opening lines). They begin to fight, Macbeths faith in himself due to his belief in how he cant be killed by man born from a woman is stopped when he is killed by Macduff, who is born as a result of a
