In the novel Animal Farm written by “George Orwell” one of the main characters, Napoleon uses the power of persuasion and ideology in chapters eight and nine of the story in order to go against what many of the animals believe in. In doing so, these animals aren't really aware of what’s happening and usually keep to themselves. One of the bigger examples of this that I noticed took place towards the beginning of chapter eight when the author points out that one of the commandments had supposedly been changed from “No animal shall kill any other animal” to “No animal shall kill any other animal without cause”. Those two extra words at the end had seemingly just slipped out of the animal's memory but when in reality was changed due to the occurrences…

Although some may say, that life on Animal Farm became worse/better after the revolution I would argue that life stayed the same as the restrictions for the animals continued even after Jones was overthrown. To start with, some would say that life on animal farm got better as the animals had more choice in matters as issues such as “the windmill was to be put to the vote.” But Napoleon still manages to get his way without the majority vote, and any issue on which the animals are against, Squealer manages to convince them through propaganda. Due to the immense amount of deception Squealer, and Napoleon use the aspect of choice among the animals is clearly proven to be just an illusion.…

As someone who has read "Animal Farm", I knew Orwell's advancing explanation as to why he writes. Napoleon and the dogs were the largest giveaways to their real-world parallels. As a writer myself, though, the title caused me to ponder why I write. Upon completing the prose, I reread the section where Orwell provides us with a brief description of common reasons to write. Before this piece, I never asked myself why I wrote-- all I needed to know was that I truly enjoyed it…

“All animals are equal.” (Orwell) This statement is certainly applicable to human society, and is the basis for some peoples ideals, but in George Orwell’s Animal Farm it sums up the entire book completely in an ironic way. Communism, while innocent and appealing in thought, was proven in Russia during the 1900’s to be damaging and easily corruptible in practice. Pure communism is the sharing of wealth and abolishment of private property, where everyone works to provide for the state, and receives only enough to sustain life.…

The author of Animal Farm, George Orwell, had a goal in writing this novella, and that was to portray the Russian Revolution of 1917 as one that resulted in a government more oppressive than the government it overthrew. The novella was first published on the 17th of August, 1945, just 28 years after the revolution. Orwell used a variety of propaganda techniques to achieve his purpose and message in his written work, and that is to illustrate how easily people can be convinced by flawed ideas if they’re presented in an appealing manner. One example of propaganda used is “Plain Folks”, when Squealer convinces the other animals that the pigs should keep all the milk and apples, by saying that they put them in their mash just to stay healthy for…
