Prologue Of Psychology Summary

The prologue in the book “Psychology” by David G. Myers provides you with a lot of important and valuable information. The prologue starts off with the history of how the study of psychology developed. I felt the beginning of the prologue was very dry, there was a lot of information about the historically becoming of psychology. The beginning of the prologue was mainly about the scientist and how it evolved over the years. I believe the most important section in prologue was about the Psychology’s Perspectives, and the Psychology’s Subfields, it was also the most interesting. Some psychologists are biological, developmental, cognitive, personality, and social psychologists. Biological psychologists explore the links between brain and mind. Developmental psychologists study our changing abilities from womb to tomb. Cognitive psychologists experiment with how we think, and solve problems. Personality psychologists investigate our persistent traits. And Social Psychologists explore how we view and affect one another. To me the most helpful psychologists is developmental, because it explains to us what are changes are from the day we were born to the day we die. They study how we change and why we change through all the years we live. Everyone changes throughout their life, so it is necessary for the world to have developmental psychologist to explain to us why these changes occur.
Overall the prologue chapter was very informative about the different types of psychologists and perspectives. I enjoyed the second part of this chapter and found it super interesting. Even though I found the beginning of the chapter very boring, the second half of the chapter was very informative, and fascinating. I am very excited to learn more about modern day psychology and apply it to my
