Prolapsed Bladder
Overview-
Prolapsed bladder, also known as cystocele occurs when the muscles of the vaginal walls become weak and are not able to support the pelvic organs adequately; in this way gives the bladder or protrudes down into the vagina. Prolapsed may be incomplete or complete. An incomplete prolapsed occurs when the uterus falls only partially into the vagina; while a complete prolapsed describes a situation in which the uterus falls so low that some tissue protruding from the vagina.
Causes-
The causes of prolapsed bladder are:
• genetic factor
• number of pregnancies and parts
• lacerations of the perineum
• age
• menopause
• obesity

During the pelvic exam, your doctor will check for the presence of cystocele making you lie down on your back with your knees bent and ankles supported by brackets. Then insert a speculum (a tool that allows analyzing the orifices of the body) against the back wall of the vagina. Other test includes-
• Cistouretrografia voiding – The cistouretrografia voiding is an examination on the X-rays, which allows for the shape of the bladder, at the moment when you urinate. If there were to be an obstacle to the emptying of the bladder, with this diagnostic test you can identify it. The procedure is performed through the introduction of a catheter inside the bladder; catheter, which carries a contrast fluid.
• Urinalysis- This test involves urine analysis for infections (such as UTI). Your doctor may also analyze the bladder to see if it is completely emptied. To do this insert a catheter (a small tube) into the urethra to empty the bladder and measure the amount of urine that remains after you pee, called post-void residual (PVR).
• Urodynamic -The urodynamic examination consists of a series of tests. During this examination, the doctor inserts into the bladder a thin, flexible catheter that remains in place during urination. A special sensor is able to gather the data that the doctor can
