Professor Cribben: Student Analysis

Decent Essays
When Professor Cribben contacted me to write this letter, I felt deeply honored, for I can say without any hesitation he is one of the most influential professors in my life. I met Professor Cribben in the first term of my doctoral program in Business with the University of Alberta and, since then, I have taken two courses with him.
I rapidly perceived his commitment to our learning. His classes are centered on his students. While he carefully plans each class’ script, he smoothly adapts it to respond to students’ comments and doubts. For example, more than once, I saw him explaining the same topic some three times in slightly different ways just to ensure all students had understood. Still, he is able to accomplish the course’s learning

Throughout the year AVID has helped me learn organizational skills enormously. I say this because at the beginning of the year I didn’t know how I was going to complete all the work I received and I didn’t really understand the time management part. So as we started getting more and more homework, I found it was important to use your planner and to do your homework the night it was assigned. Several times I fell into a whole on Thursday nights, when we had binder the next day.…

As the season of fall approaches here at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, I have reached the middle of my fall semester as a freshmen college student. Midterms are approaching and I am pulling my hair out due to the sleepless nights and long hours of studying for midterms. There are some students are planning activities for Halloween while I on the other hand am preparing my study guide for my Microeconomic midterm. The closest to a break I would have from school would be Thanksgiving break, and during the break I would return home and begin working for my family. All the stress I am feeling about school could be due to my unorganized school schedule and responsibility of renting an apartment.…

The interview with Mr. Randy Taylor, a Ph. D student in the Social, Cognitive, and Neuroscience area as well as Intro to Psychology professor, was interesting because he is a relatively newer professor and somewhat closer to his students as compared to other professors. His interview involved questions about his interest in psychology, as well as the path he intends to take as a professor, as well as the struggles that he will face. Equally importantly, I asked him regarding the struggles with working in a research environment, which is an environment that I hope to some day work in. When/Why did you become interested in studying Psychology?…

    1. What are the inherent problems involved in juggling coursework for initial teaching preparation with full-time teaching responsibilities and life outside of school and work? (CC9S7) Unfortunately, or fortunately in some cases, the main problem with juggling other things alongside full-time teaching responsibilities, is time. The responsibility of a teacher doesn’t just fall under the times that the students are in the building, but extends almost twenty-four seven.…

After being at Mandan High School for just over a year now, I have had some different interactions with the teachers. However, teachers that stuck out the most were definitely the baseball coaches because I started playing that when I moved here. Mr. Jungling was one of my favorite baseball coaches and teacher. In my opinion, what makes a good teacher is someone who pushes students to their best abilities while at the same time providing a unique way to learn and if necessary, adjusting to the students’ needs if they are struggling. Putting their students first and giving them a sense of equality.…

In all my years of education, no teacher has inspired me in a subject as much as Mr. Karmali, my calculus teacher in my senior year of high school. Mehebub S. Karmali, was a old asian-indian, in his mid sixties, who was proud to be teaching high school students the concepts of calculus. At the beginning of the year, I thought that he would be my worst nightmare from how my sister, and my upperclassmen friends talked about him. However, at the end of the year, I realized he was the complete opposite, he was the most dedicated teacher in the entire school. He was not just being strict, giving hard tests, or giving terrible grades because he wanted to be mean, he was passionate about the subject, and was dedicated to teach the students.…

There have been numerous individuals who were active in influencing the character I am today. However, there is one man who shines more than others. This is a man who works in an environment where a significant portion of his peer’s value money above providing an adequate educational experience. Our society values money above all else. This destroys characters, and ethical principles, but coach Gardner is prevalent to become adverse towards this stem of regressive ethics and attitude by creating an atmosphere where students are encouraged to flourish and persevere in the challenges of high school.…

This essay will describe the stages of social development, the teacher’s role in social development and list a few ideas of how to promote positive sense of self in the classroom. As a STEM student in high school, I learned the importance of homework, projects, and gained a sense of belonging, how to apply what I learned, and mentor other STEM students through the painful amount of homework. All of the STEM students bonded like a beehive because you work together for one common cause, to graduate and go to college. At times, the course work was incredibly difficult, especially in my freshman year. Of course, most STEM students were stressed out including me. For example, in computer science no one in my class, including myself understood how to write code for our project.…
