Have you ever thought that something in the ground would be inside of you at some point in time? Or what's inside of you right now was at some point in time was in a cow? The process of recycling atoms makes this possible. Everything is made up of a star that exploded in space a billion years ago. The Law of Conservation of Mass, discovered by Antoine Lavoisier in 1785, states that matter can not be created or destroyed makes the process of recycling atoms true/possible.
When a person exhales out they are giving off carbon. The carbon then goes to a plant. There the plant intakes the carbon to then grow. All fruits and vegetables that human and animals intake carbon. There for you intaked a atom of carbon.
Have you ate nitrogen? Plants take nitrogen from the soil to grow. Cows eat corn that was grew in soil where the plant gained the nitrogen. Most people eat cow. If they do not eat cow then vegetables that grow in the ground you still gain nitrogen from them.

The cow has now grown and can be slaughtered. You can now eat the cow meat after you cook it. When you eat the cow meat you are eating iron. Your body will gain iron from the meat that came from the cow. From the carbon making plants grow, to the plants pulling nitrogen from the soil, to the cows eating the corn that grew in the soil, to the cow be fulling grown to be slaughtered, to you cooking and eat the cow. That is an example of a process of recycling atoms. The carbon you exhaled at one point in time got right back to you. I named just three of the many atom that you intaked just from eating a steak.
