How to Rotate Tires Rotating the tires on your vehicle is recommended so that the tread stays evenly worn on all four tires. Since the front tires carry more of the car’s weight, then they tend to wear down much faster than the back tires. The front tires also wear down faster since they are the ones that turn. After the lug nuts are removed, remove the tire. This tire will be placed on the front passenger side. To put the tire on, line the holes of the wheel up with the wheel studs. Let’s say that the car has six lugs, start at the first lug, which should be on the top, if it isn’t then just spin the tire so it is. Tighten the lug but not completely. After that lug go directly to the one on the bottom, or twelve o’clock to six o’clock. Then from two o’clock to eight o’clock and finally four o’clock to ten o’clock. Tightening the lugs in this pattern ensures that the tires is evenly tightened all the way around. When you are done with that tire, place the tire from the front drivers side of the vehicle on the back passenger side of the vehicle and tighten the lugs like you did
