From 7th-8th grade I was placed in a public school setting. This school in particular had no uniform options, so I was forced to have to pick out an outfit every day of every week. This was so stressful and hard for me, and definitely put a toll on my education. I didn’t have the fanciest clothes then, and I most times re-wore the same things repeatedly. This did cause me to feel embarrassed because I thought I was the only one going through this issue. If uniforms were available back then, It would not have caused me so much trouble and would have given me a sense of peace knowing I wouldn’t be judged for what I was wearing. Many school educators constantly try enforcing the uniform policy, but saw much rejection from the students. Many wouldn’t comply, or would simply disobey the regulations."Not all students displayed good common sense or good taste when it came to clothing," said Bill Brousse, assistant principal Carlisle high school in Pennsylvania. In his further talk, he stated that because many students were violating the non-uniform dress code he found no other choice but to set a mandatory uniform policy for the next year. He then listed some prime examples of why measures were taken to enforce the uniform policy. "Some of it was totally inappropriate for school settings. The girls wanted to wear skimpy, low-cut tops, and very short skirts. Everyone wanted to look like Britney Spears. The boys were wearing low-slung, baggy pants that revealed their underwear." Some students even came to school wearing pajama bottoms and slippers.” This is not the way that students should be arriving to school on a daily basis. It is not a fashion runway, It is a place where you simply come to learn, make friends, get involved in extracurriculars then go home. The perspective of a schooling environment has definitely changed over time, and now is the time to revert it back to the way it originally
