I began playing sports at a young age, and I am still playing them today at the age of eighteen. It has been a long time of developing relationships, and still to this day are bringing new friends into my life. Some of my best friends are athletes in different grades that I wouldn’t normally encounter in the hallway. Traveling to different schools competing with other athletes has also introduced me to people I would have never imagined meeting. For an example I decided to join golf for the first time my junior year. I didn’t know anything about the sport I just heard about it from my friends that were in it that enjoyed it plus I would meet new people. When I was at the district meet in Epworth I was paired with three other girls that had about the same talent as me. Throughout the eighteen holes I got to learn about these girls and the experiences they have been through during their high school careers. They were going through the same struggles I go through. The comfort of their words were like a soft blanket of confidence I could use during the stressful days. To this day, we still remember each other, and I consider them friends and I wouldn’t have met them without me wanting to try something new. Many of the individuals I have been lucky enough to know are still in my life today cheering me on. Athletics have offered me friendships that will last a
