The idea of eugenics to improve human conditions, in the form of embryo manipulation, has been debated in many scientific and cultural communities for various reasons. One of them being its effect on society, specifically the societal views of genetically improved individuals. From a social and cultural perspective, the concept of eugenics varies between people of different cultural and societal upbringings. From a positive perspective, eugenics is viewed as a promising way of getting rid of diseases found in embryos, which would pose as a benefit in helping society. However, with the amount of risk associated with these technologies along with them not being readily available to most people, some people think society is better of without them. Culturally eugenics is viewed contrastingly by different groups. A majority of Catholics view eugenics as being a threat to respect and rights of unborn embryos, while some jews believe it as being a method of healing and Muslims see it as a tool that parents can decide to us in hand with God’s work. By establishing whether eugenics and other gene editing technologies are more beneficial in aiding society than harming it may determine if there should be regulations or limits on its
