Printmaking today is practiced as one of the fine arts.

Planography Printing is the printing on a flat surface; the design is drawn on a flat surface and then treated to hold ink and then the ink is transferred onto paper using pressure. The print is an original work of art in the same way a painting is an original work of art. The difference is that the print has editions of the same image whereas the painting is a one-of-a-kind. Prints I believe are more valued in society today, because they more attainable than an original painting. I myself would rather own a print than a painting because I like that a print is numbered showing you how many actually exist. Artwork can be found in art galleries all around the world featuring all different mediums including both paintings and

The reproduction of the work can also emphasize the artist’s purpose for painting the picture to begin with. The balanced the lighting of the reproduction make the painting look even flatter than the original, bringing out the painterly…

Sameness is always implied when reproducing art but the new replica is typically not as valuable as the original. The original carries authenticity and its own distinct presence that can not be replicated by mechanical or technological reproductive means. In example, a first edition copy of Lord of Rings is more expensive- more valuable--than a newly released edition of the same book. The first edition contains a more valuable "here and now" that can not be replicated. In example, you can not recreate a coffee stain left on an old book or the circumstance the reader bought their first edition copy under.…

Andy Warhol's Moonwalk exemplifies how pop art took inspiration from cultural trends and, in this case, from the events of the cold war and the space race. The image envisions a single electrifying moment, when man took his first step on the moon, using a technique known as screen printing to capture the dynamic composition of the image. It is currently located in the Huntsville Museum of Art, a befitting location as the Huntsville Museum of Art is located near the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. The central theme of the painting depicts astronaut Buzz Aldrin standing next to the American flag as capered by Neil Armstrong.…
