Now let’s consider some of the issues that could arise in the team that developing software projects. I tried to describe most common problems that concern individuals and that can be resolved by implying described leadership styles.
Part of the problems concerns more or less traditional issues as interpersonal relationships and personality characteristics. Though, I also observe relatively new issue that arose dramatically in the last 20 years with developing the Internet: the teams which members separated all over the world.
6.1 Prima Donnas
This type of personality was described in [7]. Such employees are not seeking for good relationships, they are concentrated on doing their job. And if someone does not on the same page with such persons, they are not trying to explain or at least pretend that they are not upset, prima donnas say whatever they think right into someone else’s face. Honesty is a positive trait, but prima donnas rarely praise, they tend to say the bitter truth and humiliate interlocutor, because prima donnas feel that they are superior towards anyone else.
Obviously, the easiest approach is to just fire such annoying person. But most of the time such prima donnas are truly experts in the domain and losing such professional will lead the company …show more content…
Rapid technology improvements enable people to communicate both synchronously and asynchronously even if they are located in the different parts of the world [10]. As a consequence, software projects that are developed by the teams, whose members are separated by distance and time, becoming more and more common [10]. Such teams are called virtual teams – teams “of interdependent members working on a common task who use electronic media as a primary means of communication; at least some of whom are dispersed in geographic and/or temporal dimensions”
