Pret A Manger is a sandwich chain business, which focuses on creating natural food by using freshly, and organic ingredients. The chain shop objective is to distinguishing themselves from other fast food chains in the marketplace today. The selection of stores of Pret A Manger in New York City is particularly located beneath Midtown. The store location that I selected to conduct my field work was one of the furthest uptown in Manhattan, located on 52th Street and 7th Avenue. Once customers enter the store, located on the right side is the food selection. The first meals are categorized from cold sandwiches on top, and beneath are the salads. Moreover, to the right are cold subs, more salads underneath, smaller snacks, hot entrees and beverages. In the middle of the store, the registers are located which offer pastries for sale. The customers would carefully read the options, by picking up the item and looking over the nutrient facts. Customers would also observe what other customers were purchasing and gravity towards that particular item. Majority of the purchases were large salads, cold subs, and cold drinks. The color scheme were dark undertones, brick walls and wood portraits. The portraits and wall art that was display in the dining area were insightful nutrient facts about the store. For example, the wall art slogan stated, “Good Organic Coffee, Ethical, Sustainable and Freshly Roasted...” Majority of the customers who purchased food would remain in the store eating their meal, which leads to the assumption that it is because WI-FI is available. Often enough, employees would come out from the kitchen to restock the wall of entrees. As an observer, it allows the customers to assume that the food is being made by demand and freshly
