Imagine that you are working towards getting a job, competing with the opposing gender- both of you have the same amount of experience; the opposing gender got the job just because their gender role fits the job description better. From gender differences in payment, to just general gender standards, gender inequality is still a problem today. It’s not always the most noticeable, yet it still affects our society in a cynical fashion. Some of these gender differences are slim, some are quite larger differences and more noticeable. One of those gender differences is the gender pay gap. Gender standards are specific standards that genders need to abide by, set up yet again by today’s society. A man’s standard set up by society is that it is “Unmanly” to cry, making it complex to show emotions to other people (Is Gender Inequality Still An Issue In America?). Another standard, set up by society for women, is that they should know how to cook. Not just women should know how to cook, cooking should be a required class to take.
