I currently work as a research assistant in the Maryland Child and Family Development Laboratory under Dr. Jude Cassidy. Although the research laboratory has multiple projects, I primarily work on the Attachment and Behavior in Preschool Children study. The project I assist with focuses on kindness of 4- year-old children in hopes of understanding what might contribute to children's positive social behavior and school readiness. The study involves inviting mothers and their 4-year-old children for two short visits to our laboratory for a play date. The child plays games with one the graduate students. At the same time, the mother completes some questionnaires, tells some stories, watches a few videos, and answers some interview questions about their experiences as a parent.

In addition, the research project also studies attachment styles of the child and their mother, specifically, how such attachment styles promote psychological and intellectual wellbeing. It investigates how children's relationships with their mothers affect their response to others’ emotions. My responsibilities in the lab include scheduling and recruiting participants, data collection, data coding, data entry, coding effortful control, data management, and general lab duties. I am also familiar with several statistical analysis software such as SPSS, minitab, and Stata. Although I currently work in a psychology lab, I realize I have more to learn regarding the process of conducting research focused on neuroscience and studying the biological basis of human behavior. I desire to expound upon the knowledge I have gained from the lab and apply what I have learned in my psychology research and neuroscience
