This is shown on page 216. "I thought Atticus Finch won't win, he can't win, but he's the only man in these parts who can keep a jury out so long in a case like that." (pg 216) This explains how Atticus treats everyone the same no matter what color they are. He knew that it was the right thing to do because no one else would take the case because of Tom Robinson’s color. Atticus has been not cruel to anyone and this quote shows that because he is the only one that wanted to take this case and plus he tried really hard to back Tom up. Atticus is really never cruel to anyone and he is treated with the respect he deserves but Tom isn’t treated with respect. No matter how hard he tries to be respectful he doesn’t get treated the way he treats people. So when Atticus is polite, respectful, kind, and honoring he treated the same way he treats others. Last of all, during the trial where Tom worked his boss was trying to stick up for him. “That boy worked for me eight years an’ I ain’t had a speck o’ trouble outa him” (195). Everyone has their own reasons why it is okay to be cruel like in this book people think it is okay to be cruel to black people because they are black and they are a different color. This is all shown throughout the book and the quotes that I got. So even though Tom Robinson was treated really bad he treated everyone like they were the same and it didn’t matter if they were black or white.
