It makes sense to think this because to her death is like power. She would be able to controls her life; the years prior her father had ran her life. Not leaving any decisions for Emily he made all the decisions for her regarding everything. Suicide would be a way for her to take all her decisions in her own hands. She was receiving scrutiny for her relations with Homer.
“A neighbor saw the Negro man admit him at the kitchen door at dusk one evening. And that was the last we saw of Homer Barron. And of Miss Emily for some time”(Faulkner 86). Emily killed Homer Barron. She had put him into her attic and set up a room for him. She visited him often, after her death the people found a long grey hair on the pillow beside his decayed body. She was afraid of loosing him and killed him to keep him close. Emily has her own strange idea of what love is. She used the power of death to keep her loved ones, Homer and her Father, close even after their death.
