Post Conference Conversation Paper

Decent Essays
I found our post conference conversation about your patient very interesting. It did feel very awkward that she was able to be so open about the sexual abuse she endured at the age of 4. The term "Spilling" was new to me, and I've never thought about it like that before. It just seems like the way to work through things would be to talk about them however, I do understand that there is an appropriate way, time, and place to do that. And, that spilling in group among others with major problems or establishing new relationship on that basis is not health for the patient or others. It was enlightening. Thanks for sharing your patient's information.

Trauma victims often have a hard time of trusting people, and usually have an even harder time discussing the event itself. Therefore, during the intake assessment I would ask her questions about her trauma exposures in a way that frames the assessment in a supportive and nonjudgmental context. My opening statement with the client would be, “Sometimes people have experienced things in their pasts that affect how they are feeling now. If it is okay, I’d like to ask you some questions about things that may have happened to you” (Briere & Scott, 2015, p. 68). I would follow that up with interpersonal, medical and historical questions (e.g. Do you have any medical problems?…

I recently went to an AA meeting at the Lamb Center in Fairfax, Virginia. It is a small center and by approaching the center I could tell that the meeting would be held in a smaller circle than what my classmates told me from their experiences. Even though I am a very relaxed person, when it comes to meeting total strangers I had my reservation on what to expect. We were instructed to be sitting in the back and basically just observe; yet I could see that “hiding” in the back at this place was an impossible task. After I parked my car and approached the door and elderly gentlemen approached me and asked if I was here for the meeting.…

It is a process in which others revise one’s original work and give the author advise on how to edit their piece of writing. Different perspectives are shared and taken into consideration, thus allowing the author to get a fresh pair of eyes on their writing other than their own. It is a very important step when completing a paper because it helps us be able to see the improvements needed to be made that we might not have noticed. Project 1:…
