Social media has given us the opportunity to be able to travel, share our experiences with the world, and give us daily contact with friends and family far from home (Sanjay Kumar). We are given the freedom to create, explore and talk to whomever we would like on the internet. With talking to whomever we would like to, we also feel the freedom to discuss feelings that we would usually not feel confident enough to share in real life. The digital technology allows new ways of learning for all ages, and helps us learn at a fast pace. However, there are several down-falls in social media such as cyberbullying. “Cyberbullying and online impersonation is a growing problem, and courts are responding to it.” (Shear). Several problems with this online bullying arose throughout time. Parents argue the fact that there should be laws against cyberbullying in schools because of how often it happens and the damage is does to children. School districts have applied monitors on some social websites to help prevent problems. This is actually a law in California now to regulate what goes on the students social media. This helps out with protecting the students privacy. This is slowly inspiring other states to take the initiative to do the same thing. This costs money, and isn’t cheap, however, it prevents problems with social media. This article is reputable because it is written by Bradley S. Shear, an attorney, consultant, speaker, and author. He has written several articles on social media and these articles have been published by The American Lawyer and The National Law Journal. He has been quoted from his articles several times. Not only does this article have an excellent author, it has great statistics. Overall this article is a great source to go against social media
